Studies Show Canadians
Can Be Assured Of LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitors
Accuracy
Positive validation studies onthe UA-631V, UA-767, UA-767 Plus AC, UA-779, UA-774, UA-787 and UA-853 models
have been published and all five satisfy the accuracy
requirements of these organisations. The Canadian
Hypertension Education Program (CHEP) and the Canadian
Coalition for High Blood Pressure Prevention and
Control have both issued statements on the need
for home blood pressure measuring devices to be
shown to meet certain standards, in order that pharmacists
and other health care professionals can be assured
that Canadians use devices that are known to be
accurate.
Few blood pressure monitors sold in Canada have
supporting validation studies. There is no specific
Health Canada requirements for such studies to
have been published prior to selling blood pressure
monitors in Canada. However, we believe that Canadian
pharmacists and potential purchasers of these
devices will continue to ask the question: how
do I know that device is accurate? It is commonly
agreed amongst hypertension specialists that independent
published validation studies are the ONLY valid
method of demonstrating accuracy.
